Hotels in Manuel Antonio

Some of Costa Rica's finest hotels are in Quepos and Manuel Antonio. There is no shortage for any budget. As you drive up from Quepos to Manuel Antonio they are practically lined up on the road for you. At first the hotels appear a little deceiving. The entrances look modest but once past that, the hotels are truly exotic.

The hotels are situated along a 7 km long road winding road up and down a mountain with the resorts and spas left and right until reaching the beach and Costa Rica's famous Manuel Antonio National Park.

If you decide to come during the peak season of December and January, you will need to book your room well in advance as Manuel Antonio is one of the most popular destinations in Costa Rica.

Although there are many hotels in the area, a small number are actually beach-front. Most are situated along the 7 km winding road that goes up and then down. But most hotels have a spectacular bird's eye view of the Manuel Antonio National Park. If you don't feel like going to the beach, these hotels offer outdoor pools with the lookout over Manuel Antonio.

Because camping is prohibited within the park, a number of lodging choices have sprung up around the perimeter of the park. One of the popular local lodging offerings consists of "cabinas" (cabins) which vary in price ($20-$30/night) and quality. Cabinas Pedro Miguel (tel.777-00-35) and Cabinas Piscis (tel.777-00-46) are two popular choices for this type of lodging. The Manuel Antonio Park area also has a number of hotels which average about $50-$60/night. There are also a few upscale hotel/resort style properties in the area such as the Makanda by the Sea (tel.777-04-42) and the ancient Spanish style Hotel El Parador (tel.290-76-82).
